04 Mar NYFW – Angel Sanchez
We didn’t really know what to expect, to be honest. Angel Sanchez is a designer whose name keeps cropping up, but I honestly had never really made a huge effort at seeking out previous collections. This changes now. Sitting next to a lovely lady from Mexico who clued me in to the fact that Sanchez is a “pretty huge deal” in his home country, she told me that Mexican girls grow up dreaming of wearing his bridal creations at their weddings. That alone should tell you something, and it made me approach his Fall/Winter 2015 collection with renewed curiosity. And let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed. Armed with a razor-sharp sense of design and impeccable taste, Angel Sanchez showcased perforated materials like leather and vinyl, adorned with jewelry-like clasps and fasteners that add new dimensions to the clothing. Looks spanning everything from leisurely time at a country house to exquisite galas, this collection was designed with modern, independent women in mind, and one thing is for sure, Sanchez does not leave us wanting.
