15 Feb NYFW – Duckie Brown FW2015
Steven Cox and Daniel Silver of Duckie Brown described their Fall/Winter 2015 collection as “what you might wear if you were going to the beach in winter.” And this vibe was definitely present in the clothing. Light fabrics and bright, yet subdued hues dominated the collection; pale pinks combined with darker tones for a collection that, dare I say it, actually looked romantic. And that’s quite a feat for a menswear collection. Steven said that they wanted the collection to be as soft and vulnerable as possible, and that they definitely achieved.
The Duckie Brown FW2015 collection was presented as transparent as possible. From removing the barriers between the audience and the changing room, everything was out in the open. And along with the transparency came a sort of intimacy that you don’t really see in other runway shows. A feeling that you belonged, you were one of them, and Duckie Brown are one of us. No more us versus them, but a “we’re all friends here, we have no secrets” vibe. I for one enjoyed it, and not just because their wonderful PR people plonked me on the photographers podium for the first time ever!
