27 Jan Paris Fashion Week Mens: Ann Demeulemeester

I always get super excited for Ann Demeulemeester’s runway shows. For Fall/Winter 2015, designer Sébastien Meunier stays pretty true to the Demeulemeester code: romantic plus edgy plus goth. But as soon as the first model began his stomp down the runway with the exposed red fur lining on a black leather vest and flaming red boots (those boots!!  LOVE them!!), you could tell that something was going to be just a wee bit different. It seems that Meunier has asserted his point of view, albeit only ever so slightly, while staying within the scope of the brand. A dark khaki coat with a stand up collar lined with bright orange fur, skinny trousers in mustard and red: it is refreshing to see some flashes of bright color amidst the sea of Demeulemeester black. Don’t get me wrong, I adore all the black, but the injection of small bits of bright color made me smile.

The collection has a slight military vibe to it. I have to be honest, I am a bit bored with the military thing, but that is neither here nor there. And I can’t say that I am in love with the U-shaped button front panels on some of the garments, but the cutaway zipper detailing is intriguing. One of the very last looks to come down the runway was a black sparkly mid length coat with the cutaway zipper thing going on. That’s right, I said sparkly. And it was to die for.
