Thom Browne Fall 2015 Menswear

25 Jan Paris Fashion Week Mens: Thom Browne

Thom Browne is no stranger to theatrics. In the past, he has staged elaborate and extravagant runway shows, and this year was no exception. For his Fall 2015 menswear RTW show, Browne staged a theatre piece in two acts to accompany the collection. A man, dressed in white, starts his day in an all-white apartment, and pulls a black suit out of a closet. From here on, the world turns black as the protagonist dies. The collection itself is staged as a funeral procession, mourners parading in all-black looks, mourning veils, and top hats that, when viewed together, are reminiscent of Victorian mourning attire, but when viewed separately become completely modern. Very wearable pieces that include immaculately tailored morning coats, overcoats and capes, slim-cut suits with large cuffs and tapered bottoms, and a variety of men’s skirts in traditional menswear fabrics, but also include less frequently seen materials in menswear like tulle and taffeta, as well as laces, furs and silks. We’re huge fans of men’s skirts, so we’re suckers for this collection. Thom, call me, I’ll wear it all…
